I wouldn’t necessarily say one by one by you’re definitely on the right track. Actually Umineko makes plenty of references to other mystery series and novels.

Hm. It reminds me quite a bit of Agatha Christie’s “And Then There Were None.” I wonder if the characters will be murdered off one by one?

Wow, now I’m even more excited~ I don’t think I’ve had great anticipations for an anime since CODE GEASS, so I’m really hoping Umineko will turn out as well as the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni animes. And good luck with the subbing.
