Well, I did it. I’ve finished my final exams and have officially survived my first year as a college student! Yay!

Now I can look forward to a summer full of Super Smash Bros. and Gunpla.

The only trouble is related directly to this blog. In the next 24 hours, posting will become more difficult for me as I transition from the high-speed Internet here at UVA to the 56k dial-up that I have to put up with at home. I’ll probably have to drop some things here and there and cut back on screencaps, but I plan to keep Taishou up to date no matter what, so stick with me!

Also, congratulations to all the other college students out there finishing their exams! Have a great summer!

Lelouch… we need to talk. Lately, I’ve been hiding a secret from you.

Yeah. See, things between us haven’t been moving as quickly as they used to… we had a good thing going before this spring, but now I need someone who can really make things happen. There’s no point arguing - in fact, there’s already someone else. Lelouch… I’m leaving you for Suzaku!

On Saturday, I took a rare break from my otaku lifestyle to check out a really cool show in town:

The promise of seeing Voltaire was enough to make me postpone one of my final exams, which is only going to make trouble for me later in the week - but I got what I came for, and maybe just a little more.

I’m getting around to this episode a little late - in fact, Kanokon’s latest episode has already aired in Japan as I write this - but it took a while for Ayako to release fansubbed torrent links, and then some final exams hit me.

Seriously. I know you think I was being lazy, but college can be pretty harsh sometimes. It was totally out of my control. Besides, ecchi is just as good a few days later as it is fresh from Japan! So let’s cut to the chase.

As my site has finally reached a point where I’m completely satisfied with its look and feel, I’m posting this maintenance checkpoint in order to keep track of the additions, upgrades, and modifications that have been made so far, as well as to serve as a base point where Honya can post comments about anything he does to the site in the future (he’s the administrator; I just post here).

Prrromotions!!!

Promotions right now. Maintenance history after the break, if you care:

After weeks of waiting, it’s finally here! My Lelouch figma.BP from Max Factory/Banpresto!

I don’t usually go out of my way to buy figurines, but when I saw this one on preorder sale at HobbyLink Japan back in February, I knew I had to have it. Being the huge Code Geass fan that I am, this figurine elicited the kind of “must-have” reaction from me that’s usually reserved only for the newest Gundam model kits.

I didn’t blog episode 3 of Code Geass last week. I don’t feel very bad about that, either.

Good question, Lelouch. Probably because I was lazy, just like Sunrise was last week when they decided to steal half of the episode’s plot elements from Death Note. But who am I kidding? I’ve been looking forward to episode 4 all week. Let’s get to the review.

Well, I’ve officially joined Zanaikin’s Imperium Project. Although my first attempt at writing the shared history of Canan and Exam, the characters who were subsequently placed under my charge, failed hard, eventually everyone on the project agreed that its core concepts were good and could be used if I could just edit my original draft. I’ve finally done just that, and while this new draft feels like a complete rewrite, it’s also a lot smoother and more focused than my first, and contains some input directly from Zanaikin. So I’m a lot more confident about this one - at least, enough to share it with the Internet.

Potentially massive spoilers after the break.

Episode three of Kanokon seemed to take a strange new direction for the series. Where were the panty shots? Where was the comedy? Where were the kiss scenes, even? There were just some uninspired scenarios and some out-of-place attempts at plot and character development, and I was left wondering what had happened to the Kanokon I knew and was beginning to love. And then, suddenly…

As I mentioned earlier, Kanokon is the second of two anime premiering this season that I intend to keep track of on a week-to-week basis. Kanokon doesn’t have anything close to the deep storyline or explosive popularity of Code Geass… but the ecchi is fantastic. I love ecchi - love love it - and Kanokon promises to be one of the best ecchi series in recent memory.
