Once again its seems that I could not help but try to lighten my anime backlog so I ended up having a second Thanksgiving Marathon and watching the rest of Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori. Futakomori is the the follow up to the original Jigoku Shoujo and once again follows Enma Ai and the rest of Jigoku Tsuushin. Each episode follows the suffering of an individual from the beginning of the hatred to the point where they can no longer tolerate it and resort to accessing Jigoku Tsuushin. Each story is different and accurately showcases the boundlessness of human hatred and cruelty in the form of bullying, extortion, domestic violence, rape, torture, murder, and whatever else I have neglected to mention.

Usually during Thanksgiving, I end up marathoning an anime from start to finish. Two years back, I ended up watching all 52 episodes of Full Moon wo Sagashite in the span of two days. Anyone who knows about this series will tell you that it gets pretty depressing towards the end. Anyways, this year I ended up watching iDOLM@STER XENOGLOSSIA. If that title sounds kind of strange, that’s probably because you have never heard of THEiDOLM@STER before. THEiDOLM@STER is a game created by Namco originally for arcades in which you take the role of a producer who has to take a group of up-and-coming amateurs and turn them into the most popular idols in the nation, thus the name “THEiDOLM@STER.” You can check out the wonderful song Go My Way!! in the video below.

Today was my culture presentation so I decided to do Seifuku (制服) or uniforms, specifically school uniforms. I think I left some parts out and my English failed near the end so I am typing a short synopsis. They were introduced in the late 19th century and based on Meiji military dress which was based on European military uniforms. There are 2 main types: Gakuran (学ラン) for boys and Sailor Fuku (セーラー服) for girls. Gakuran are based on Prussian army uniforms and sailor fuku are based on British naval uniforms because they were the primary military and naval powers at the time. School uniforms are required for middle and high school but not in most elementary schools.

Taken from Pink Tentacle:
Publisher Jiyu Kokuminsha has announced this year’s crop of nominees for Japanese buzzword of the year. The wide-ranging selection of 60 words and expressions — many of which come from the worlds of politics, sports and entertainment — were selected based on suggestions from the general public, and they provide an interesting look at some of the events, people and trends that had an impact on Japan in 2007.
A panel of judges will choose the year’s grand prize winner and top 10 buzzwords from these 60 nominees. The final results will be announced on December 3.
You can see the original announcement in Japanese here.
