The premiere of Gundam Unicorn’s excellent first episode a couple of weeks ago was one of the most exciting events of my recent life, and in the time since I’ve been snapping up all the Unicorn-related goods I can get my hands on. As soon as the OVA ED song leaked, it was my destiny to translate it!
I went with a looser translation in the interest of speed, but I think the lyrics of “Ryuusei no Namida” convey the bond between Banagher and Audrey very well. (Newtypes sure fall in love fast, don’t they?) It’s a pretty song that I hope you enjoy.
P.S. Bonus points for anyone who recognized rookie idol Kuriyama from her role as Gogo Yubari in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill vol. 1!

Honya’s been on a translation tear lately, but when she mentioned that her next project was going to be Kuribayashi Minami’s tune Muv-Luv (because no one else has translated it yet, apparently), I begged her to let me do it instead. “Muv-Luv” is one of my favorite songs, and Muv-Luv Unlimited/Alternative would be on my short list of visnovels to play except that it’ll never be translated. Ah, well. Here’s hoping you enjoy my latest humble translation effort!

Just when I had forgotten about the upcoming Macross F movie (due mid-November), a new single from Sheryl Nome (voiced by rising idol May’n) appeared! “pink monsoon” is a steamy song that really brings out Sheryl’s sultry idol image – my face was all red as I translated the lines!
This is my first time translating a song for Lyrical Spark (that’s usually Honya’s job) so all the Engrish helped make this job suitably easy. I hope I did a decent job…

With the apparent lack of any new mecha series in the coming fall season, as well as the absence of any new Gundam animation this year despite the 30th anniversary of the franchise (though we did get that cool statue), I was getting a little impatient to hear something from the Sunrise/Bandai camp. Luckily, they delivered with an announcement confirming a 6-episode OVA release for Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn in 2010.

Right now, Gundam fans around the world are celebrating the official 30th anniversary of the appearance of the original RX-78-2 Gundam (which was today, by the way), so I figured I would do my part with a review of my recently-completed 1/100 scale Gundam Avalanche Exia Gunpla!

I love the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, and every time a new chapter is added, I feel the need to step back and evaluate what it adds to the mythos as a whole. With Gundam 00 at its conclusion (for now), I have my own critical opinions and thoughts on the series to share. WALL OF TEXT ahead.

With the holiday season coming up and the figure companies showing off their newest offerings for next year, now is definitely the time to put down money on preorders – but as excited as I am about all the great new releases, a part of me is in a panic! Although I live above the otaku poverty line, getting my hands on the new figures that I just can’t live without will surely demolish my entire savings. I won’t have any regrets, but I’m going to have to learn to live with the consequences.
Take a look at what I’m ordering this season.

A few weeks ago, while I was in the middle of finishing Macross Frontier, Honya mentioned to me that DarkMirage was hosting an e-mail interview with May’n (the singing voice of Sheryl Nome) to commemorate her upcoming performance at AFA ’08 in Singapore. Anyone was invited to submit a question for the interview, and as a fan, I figured, “Why not?”
The interview was posted on the AFA website this afternoon, and to my surprise, my question was there! Considering the popularity of Macross F and May’n right now, I feel like I defied the odds here. It may be just one little question, but I’m glad that I was able to “say” something to May’n, somehow. It’s kind of like that one time I got to meet the members of JAM Project…
Anyway, the whole interview is pretty interesting. I’ve posted my question and May’n's response above, and you can check it out the rest here.
P.S. It’s my birthday today! Happy birthday to meeee…
