Status updates concerning Lyrical☆Spark!

lyrical-spark-300k-get

Earlier today or rather technically yesterday (4/27) I finally got 300,000 hits on this site! I reached this milestone a little faster than expected due to the jump in visits I had after my recent music translation streak. As I missed various other landmarks such as 100k and 250k due to underestimating growth I really wanted to get a commemorative drawing out this time so I did a colored image for the first time in forever. Since I use Alice Margatroid as my avatar I obviously had to have her announce it. Anyway my interim goal before I reach 400k hits is to post more of my own art such as this and keep up everything else.

Thanks to everyone who has visited my humble blog!

First day of school started for me today and it looks like Japanese and various science classes will be keeping me as busy as ever this semester so I decided to write about what I want to accomplish so that I will not forget as the year progresses. Since things will only get more hectic from now on I need to get my priorities straightened out. Of course many of these will be otaku-related but some goals may spill over into my schoolwork or elsewhere.

top-query-11-6-08

According to my blog statistics, 5 of the top 10 queries that lead readers to my blog is either some combination of “Rosario” and “Vampire” or Mizore, one of the main characters of Rosario to Vampire. I’m not quite sure why it is so prominent since I have not blogged about it much compared to a lot of other things. Although I often make fun of it, I finally admit it—I FUCKING LOVE ROSARIO TO VAMPIRE!! I’m not even sure why I like it so much.

Anyways, just so that potential readers can find the pictures they originally googled for, here are 40 high-resolution Rosario to Vampire pictures. Enjoy!

Alice HangContrary to what some people may believe, Honya is still around. So what is up with this nearly three-week absence? I wish I could say I was on an extended vacation but the truth is that I have been without internet since June 22. In fact, I have only had my internet back for less than 12 hours.

Hikari Draft 2I didn’t realize until about a week ago that I was on AnimeBlogger.net Antenna so Welcome Everybody who has come to visit my little site. It wasn’t a complete surprise since I did submit my feed to Antenna but I thought I was not accepted. Anyways, I’m glad to be a part of the larger anime blogger community and will try my best to provide engaging content for my new readers as well as my loyal supporters.

That said, I still have past responsibilities to keep so the rest of the post will be devoted to The Imperium Project, a game development project at the University of Virginia. For those new to Lyrical Spark!, my prior work on the game can be found here. Technically this was due Sunday but I didn’t want to post it without any new art so I waited a couple of days. Once everyone is caught up, let’s get started!

Lyrical Spark Header Original

Despite it being Exam time, I find myself with unusual amounts of free time so I have been posting a lot recently; this is my sixth one in seven days. Anyways, I’ve been pretty bored lately so I decided to play around with some of the encoding which led to as Citrus put it, my blog exploding. After correcting that fiasco by foregoing the study time I probably should have been doing, I decided to just mess with the theme code and nothing else.

So while doing some blog management, I somehow came up with the brilliant idea of fixing Lyrical Spark’s character encoding problem. Using Google, I found out that it was a database encoding problem so I decided to use a plugin to fix it. Good thing is that the database should be fixed and the Japanese won’t spontaneously change fonts. Bad thing is that now I need to go back and fix all the Japanese text and I won’t be able to do that until tomorrow afternoon. For now, just ignore the weird look.

On Friday, Citrus finally decided to officially join the Imperium Project Dev Team. I think the 2 pictures I will post below were the factors that finally convinced him to take the plunge. In celebration we got together to do some planning on the as-of-then defunct third heroine path. In addition, I set up a new blog for Citrus under my domain named Taishou.

As I have mentioned previously, I was bored Monday so I decided to buy my own domain and hosting service. Actually, that was a lie. I have been contemplating purchasing honya-ch.com for quite a while and it was only Monday that I finally decided to go for it. Read the rest of this entry »
