THE iDOLM@STER 2: PV and ImpressionsPosted by Honya in Games, Impressions, News, tags: iDOLM@STEREveryone knew it was coming eventually but Namco Bandai finally officially announced THE iDOLM@STER 2 recently. It doesn’t come as a surprise given the 2nd Vision initiative to revitalize the franchise but now we have solid information about the title. I did some slight speculation about the game (but mostly praying for features I want) a few months ago and I’m glad some of my wishes have come true.

Yuri on the Chalkboard Week 36: See You Next Fall!Posted by Honya in Art, Games, Projects, School, Yuri on the Chalkboard, tags: Touhou![]() It’s been forever since I last did one of these drawings. Because of various unforeseen circumstances I haven’t been able to draw Yuri Chalk for 6 weeks in a row. I didn’t want to end the semester without making one last drawing so I did this during my last opportunity. To make up for it I had to have multiple girls relationships in this image so going with the biggest yuri harem I good think of I choose to go with Touhou’s Marisa and company. I couldn’t find a good image with all the main girls in her harem so I had to combine 2 together. With only a little more than a month before PSP game Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker makes its North American debut I’ve been gobbling up every bit of related material I can find online. Somehow I stumbled on to this strange fanmade video of Big Boss doing sketchy things to one of the game’s main characters Paz. Did I mention she’s still in her teens and in only in underwear making it all the more creepy/hilarious/mind-blowing depending on your take? If you have 3 minutes to spare and can brace yourself for some “what!?” then you should watch this video. The first 45 seconds or so are of Big Boss taking photos of Paz and chasing her down with his camera while she tells him not to. Then Big Boss trades in his camera for a stun rod and continues running after her while the Psycho shower scene music plays for another 45 seconds. Using some CQC Big Boss grabs hold of Paz and interrogates her. She says stuff like “I’m…Paz…I love…peace…” and “It hurts…Let go of me…” At the very end he slams her down on the ground after which a cutscene starts. Paz walks away while Big Boss yells for her to come back and the game over music plays. At the end I pretty much had nothing else to say because my brain was fried. ![]() I’m looking forward to this game so much. I’m set on getting this launch day and since I don’t have a PSP yet I’ll be getting the Big Boss Pack which will include the following:
It’s going to be so cool except the part where I’ll lose the PSP due to the camo paint job. I can’t wait until June 8 when I can be advertised Doritos, Moutain Dew, Pepsi, Axe body spray, etc.

[Lyrics] Kud Wafter OP Single – one’s future [Suzuta Miyako]Posted by Honya in Games, KEY, Lyrics, tags: Kud Wafter![]() Just when I thought I was done with translating Key songs for the time being I was surprised yet again today by the release of Kud Wafter’s opening song one’s future. It is sung by none other than Suzuta Miyako the voice of lead heroine Noumi Kudryavka. There are four versions of the song on the single including the regular version, a special “live” version and two instrumental versions. Surprisingly there is a lack of any Engrish considering the character singing. At the very least there is plenty doubling up of words so it sounds very cutesy. I made sure to retain that in my translation as best I could. The game won’t be out until June 25 but until then enjoy this translation of the song! ![]() As originally reported by オレ的ゲーム速報@刃 and later by Kotaku‘s Brian Ashcraft it seems that there is a possibility of seeing a new iM@S game early next year. Apparently a leaked release schedule by Microsoft Taiwan’s official news blog Xbox Life shows Idol Master 2 out February 2011. This has since been removed. Of course alone this is dubious at best. However there is also circumstantial evidence from the official iM@S Staff Column dating from February 2010 like this or this that mention that they have started work on their new project, gathered all their production notes, wondering what the idols will be doing at this time next year (2/2011) and that revealing any more details could get them in hot water. I hope this is real though for now this is only but a rumor. Instead of debating the validity of the evidence presented as that won’t change the iM@S staff’s production schedule the rest of the article will focus on what I want to see in the next game.

[Lyrics] Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker PAZ Character Song – Koi no Yokushiryoku PAZ special ver. [Mizuki Nana]Posted by Honya in Games, Lyrics, Music, tags: Metal GearNever would I have imagined that I would be translating a Nana song for a Metal Gear game. As soon as I saw the video today I knew I had to translate this song. It seems so out of place in Metal Gear but I can’t help but love the strangeness of blending two of my favorite things together. I knew Kojima loved his gravure idols but I guess he also loves anisong and virtual idols as well. Kojima’s trolls are always the best trolls. I’ll update this entry when the single comes out April 7 but have fun with this for now. EDIT: Here’s the Full Version of the song.

Ookami Kakushi: A More Satisfying 07th Expansion Anime Than UminekoPosted by Honya in Anime, Games, tags: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, Ookamikakushi, Umineko no Naku Koro ni![]() Over the last two weeks I caught up with watching Ookami Kakushi. The last time I had watched it was when I spent my 21st birthday immersing myself in everything 07th Expansion. I watched the first two episodes and after only that I was pretty much able to formulate a solid theory which later proved to be correct with each subsequent episode. The ease at which I solved the “mystery” was the main reason I fell behind it in the first place. Yet I find that very fact the reason I believe Ookami Kakushi is a better anime than Umineko. When put next to the Higurashi anime it definitely doesn’t compare but still I would place it above the likes of the Umineko anime. To put things into perspective I place the Umineko sound novels on equal terms as the Higurashi anime. As a mystery series Ookami Kakushi pales in comparison to the Higurashi anime and the Umineko novels. As previously mentioned it is a lot easier to predict than would be expected. In fact I wouldn’t even classify Ookami Kakushi as a mystery series at all but rather as supernatural suspense. The show does not really have to rely on the mystery elements at all and can focus on character interaction and the moment-to-moment events that befall Hiroshi. At times the show can seem shallower than Higurashi or the Umineko sound novels but it also doesn’t place the same expectations that made the Umineko anime a letdown in many respects. In a way this allows the series to sidestep several of the many big faults with the Umineko anime–the terrible transition of the mystery to animated form. Get ready for possibly massive spoilers as is always the case when I discuss stuff about 07th Expansion. |
