Exactly two years ago I posted “my ideal family” if it were to consist of anime, manga and game characters. Basically the idea came to me when I stumbled on an amazing thread randomly in which people would post a list of characters to form a family. Think of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki and that’s pretty much the basic premise. I found the idea so amusing that I started seriously thinking about it and after some major contemplation I posted my list a few days later. Suddenly two years have passed and I’ve finally gotten around to updating my family roster. I’ve been planning to redo it for a while since I have an even bigger “gene pool” from which to select family members from. The list is divided into the family I grew up with and the family I raise as an adult. Continue on for some strange shenanigans.

If I didn’t think it looked horribly wordy I would have subtitled this post “Stepping into a past decade before exiting the current one” or something similar. Thanks to Shance I rediscovered the Anime Otaku-ness Test 200, a 200 question assessment of one’s otaku power-level. The test is terribly out-of-date but I think it is a good primer for letting people get to know me a little better. I’ve taken a few of the more interesting questions for me and explained my answers right here. I hope this will be a pleasant insight into who I am.

For the past 3 days I’ve been missing in action on the internets due to Nekocon 12. After getting tired of not ever going to conventions with my friends I decided this year that I would finally go to one. Though my wallet is aching in the end it was definitely worth the price and time I paid. Get ready for a ridiculously long write up of my Nekocon adventure.

Even though Eri is my favorite idol from Dearly Stars, Ryo’s image song Dazzling World is probably my favorite new song. As the name suggests the song is about an eternal love that illuminates the entire world. I really like the lyrics and the flow of the song and just pretty much everything. Also Ryo looks so cute on the cover that I keep forgetting that she’s a boy…Anyway I hope you enjoy the song:

Since Eri is still currently my favorite iM@S DS idol I felt obligated to translate this song. It’s a nice song about opening up and starting all over again just like how Eri did. I’m planning to work on the other new iM@S songs sometime as well. For now I hope you enjoy Precog (PURIKOGU):

Ever since I got my first bad end in iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars I’ve made great progress on Eri’s story. I redid the audition and this time around I achieved idol rank E. After Eri proved that she could sing she was presented with two more challenges that confronted her new career as a real world idol and her old roots as a net idol. Thus her rough path to the next rank was paved.

It seems the appeal of newly acquired games is impossible for me to resist so while taking a break from translating I decided to play a little more iM@S Dearly Stars. Things were going along smoothly in Lesson mode as I trained Eri’s stats so that everything was more or less equal. I also was making good progress delivering a decent number of perfect responses during the promotion events so I got to see as Eri made improvements in her singing ability and confidence.

After exactly three long weeks of waiting I finally got my copy of iDOLM@STER Dearly Stars this morning. It’s kind of sad though that now that I finally have it my short break from school is just about over and I’ll be having my second round of exams soon so I probably won’t be able to play as much as I have wanted to. Today I decided I would go with ELLIE Eri as my first idol and so far I’m enjoying my choice especially since Eri is so hikikomori; she’s so scared of the outside and lacks self confidence and is quite socially awkward especially when she meets the other two idols. She’s someone I can really empathize with so I’m motivated to help her with her singing problem. I say that but in reality the vocal lessons are the hardest for me. Dance is easy and visual is not too bad but I’m not that great at the vocal lessons since I’m a rather slow reader so sometimes I screw up the lyrics. Oh well. I’m having fun and now I have something to play in my downtime.

So I was bored so I decided to translate the iM@S Dearly Stars manga sample pages released in Comic REX recently. For those who don’t know there will be 3 Dearly Stars manga running simultaneously starting in September corresponding to the three main characters and each will be drawn by a different artist. Hopefully someone will decide to scanlate the manga when they come out. Anyway have fun with the sneak peak.
