Exactly two years ago I posted “my ideal family” if it were to consist of anime, manga and game characters. Basically the idea came to me when I stumbled on an amazing thread randomly in which people would post a list of characters to form a family. Think of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki and that’s pretty much the basic premise. I found the idea so amusing that I started seriously thinking about it and after some major contemplation I posted my list a few days later. Suddenly two years have passed and I’ve finally gotten around to updating my family roster. I’ve been planning to redo it for a while since I have an even bigger “gene pool” from which to select family members from. The list is divided into the family I grew up with and the family I raise as an adult. Continue on for some strange shenanigans. Read the rest of this entry »
With this year’s SaiMoe tournament at an end, it looks as if Kagami is the superior Hiiragi twin. Although I am happy that Kagami beat Tsukasa I am a little bit disappointed with this year’s event as a whole. For one the top eight consisted of characters from only a total of 4 series; CLANNAD (3), Lucky Star (2), Bamboo Blade (2), and Hayate no Gotoku. Don’t get me wrong as I like all these series but some variety would have been nice like in 2006 when there were 8 series represented. Read the rest of this entry »
Epic Anime Season is Epic. Fall season will be starting in just a few days time and it is looking to be one of the best in recent memory. With shows like CLANNAD: After Story and Gundam 00 Second Season, this coming season looks like it will be Fall 2007 remix version 2.0. There are also plenty of new shows like ChaoS;Head that have plenty of potential to be awesome. I tried to narrow my watch list down but given the sheer amount of WIN, it was near impossible. Today was my culture presentation so I decided to do Seifuku (制服) or uniforms, specifically school uniforms. I think I left some parts out and my English failed near the end so I am typing a short synopsis. They were introduced in the late 19th century and based on Meiji military dress which was based on European military uniforms. There are 2 main types: Gakuran (学ラン) for boys and Sailor Fuku (セーラー服) for girls. Gakuran are based on Prussian army uniforms and sailor fuku are based on British naval uniforms because they were the primary military and naval powers at the time. School uniforms are required for middle and high school but not in most elementary schools. Read the rest of this entry »
Publisher Jiyu Kokuminsha has announced this year’s crop of nominees for Japanese buzzword of the year. The wide-ranging selection of 60 words and expressions — many of which come from the worlds of politics, sports and entertainment — were selected based on suggestions from the general public, and they provide an interesting look at some of the events, people and trends that had an impact on Japan in 2007.
A panel of judges will choose the year’s grand prize winner and top 10 buzzwords from these 60 nominees. The final results will be announced on December 3.
It seems that this blog has become a sort of journal for me in addition to its original function as a communication device. Anyways, the second set of Lucky Star Character Songs came out today (by today I mean Tuesday in Japan). I like all of the character songs but my favorite one is probably Patty-chan’s; her songs are so funny. Her two songs Cosplay no Kokoroe (こすぷれノこころえ) and Saidai Seichi Carnival (最大聖地カーニバル) are hilarious. The third track of every character’s CD is a joke track but Patty’s is the funniest to me. You can check out all the joke tracks below in the video I made:
That’s it for my temporary break. I should probably get back to studying for tomorrow’s test.
