This tutorial assumes that you have already drawn something so let’s do that first. I prefer to draw on paper and redraw the lines in my computer but you can just draw directly in PhotoShop. In general, you want the size of your image to be at least twice as large as the size you plan to release it in. The one thing you want to make sure is that you are drawing on a transparent layer so that only the lines will show when all other layers are off. You may also want to keep certain features such as the eyes on separate layers so they may easily be changed.

Overly-Delayed TIP DrawingsPosted by Honya in Art, Projects, tags: The Imperium ProjectAs I ranted about in the previous post, my lack of internet has severely impacted any sort of activity on this precious blog of mine. Now that I have my intertubes back up (with what appears to be better speed), I can begin to salvage Lyrical Spark!. To start off, I will be posting the overdue TIP drawings that I finished about 2 weeks ago. Because I had no access to the TIP character list, my work on any new characters has been nonexistent to say the least. The bright news however is that the unwanted downtime allowed me to retrace most of the new drawings so for the first time will be posting clean drawings! These will be the drawings used for the character CGs unless someone on the team vehemently opposes for valid reasons. All right, it’s time for me to stop fooling around and deliver the goods on what I think will become the official Canan path storyline. For as long as it took to finally make this post, it’s missing information on decision points and some details need filling in, but I blame a lot of this on my lack of experience with visual novels and trust that my fellow writers can pick up my slack. Anyway, let’s get this over with so I can go back to drooling over Gundams. Spoilers at 12 o’clock!

Canan/Exam Route Draft 2Posted by Citrus in Projects, tags: CLANNAD, The Imperium ProjectThanks to a breakthrough conversation with Zanaikin today, I was finally able to do what I haven’t been able to do on my own even after weeks of attempts. I now have a clear vision of how to progress through Canan’s and Exam’s route, with actual ideas about character roles, key scenes, and sources of conflict and drama being much more defined than the handful of themes I had been attempting to cobble together for so long. What I’m listing below is the raw material that I want to use to create the final route. As usual, Imperium Project spoilers are beyond this point.

Imperium Project: Wiki ProfilesPosted by Citrus in Projects, tags: The Imperium ProjectEager to give myself a break from the Canan/Exam route (which is quickly becoming too involved and difficult for my meager talents as a visual novel storywriter), but unwilling to cease all productivity, I decided to get some much-needed work done on character profiles for the Imperium Project Wiki. I’ve written an extended personality description for my favorite character, Hikari…
…as well as a stub description for Exam so that obnoxious “…awaiting more information from Citrus…” tab will go away. Unlike past TIP articles, no plot spoilers after the break! Read on!
The original was structured as two main parts to flesh out two characters, one being an awesome, underutilized character and the other being an original one created by me whose path at the time was dead. The first half had Hikari as its main support character while the second half’s would be Canan. But since Citrus joined and resurrected the third path with Canan and Exam as the leads, I revised my draft to focus less on Canan. In the end, I ended up making this more of a Sofiya/Hikari story with a little Canan for added flair than just a Sofiya-focused one. Anyways, be prepared for an extremely long post.

lol I’m on AnimeBlogger.net AntennaPosted by Honya in Art, Blog, Projects, tags: The Imperium Project
That said, I still have past responsibilities to keep so the rest of the post will be devoted to The Imperium Project, a game development project at the University of Virginia. For those new to Lyrical Spark!, my prior work on the game can be found here. Technically this was due Sunday but I didn’t want to post it without any new art so I waited a couple of days. Once everyone is caught up, let’s get started! All right, it’s time to stop being lazy for a little while and get back to some work on the Imperium Project. This time, I have to focus on the in-game events that will reveal Canan’s and Exam’s personal histories and bring Exelar close to them. Although Canan will be introduced at an early stage in the game, her route cannot begin until Exam joins the party, whenever that is. It’s absolutely necessary for Exam to be introduced as an injured, unconscious survivor of a major battle scene, as he would never willingly place himself in the care of the Arcanum. At any rate, Canan’s and Exam’s routes progress simultaneously, although the player will have choices that will bring him closer to one or the other. Prospective spoilers ahead!
