RapeLay Pulled From Amazon.com
According to the Belfast Telegraph, Illusion‘s 3D rape-simulation title RapeLay was taken down from online retailer Amazon when British MP Keith Vaz got wind that such a title was being offered for purchase. He vowed to bring the issue to the British Parliament in order to prevent the game from being sold and in response Amazon removed the game from its website. 200 Years of Charles Darwin
Today marks the bicentennial of the birth of one of the greatest minds in biological and scientific history, Charles Darwin. I know that this isn’t exactly otaku-related but I had to mention the man responsible for giving rise to my area of study, Biology, as we now see it. This year is also the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species, an eloquently written piece of literature in which even the layman can understand the most important unifying theme of Biology, evolution. Yet one hundred and fifty years later, only half of Americans support evolution while two-thirds believe in idea of Creationism. Whether you support evolution or not, please take the time today to at least acknowledge Darwin for his contributions to modern science.
PS: It is also the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln

Tempting Figures I Shouldn’t Buy
For some reason or another the other day I found myself doing the internet equivalent of window-shopping and once again was entranced by the allure of PVC beauties. I failed to mention it in my Goals for ’09 post but I want to reduce the amount I spend on otaku goods. However any such prospect seems to be slowly fading away so I suppose it’s a “good” thing that I did not make it a solid commitment. So what figures could possibly be responsible for soon making me relapse back into my terrible spending habits?

OELVN Worlds of Haruhi Suzumiya Demo
While everyone is fan-gasming over Newtype’s announcement that the new Haruhi television anime will be airing this April, I find myself writing about something else Haruhi-related which most people have probably never heard of. In fact, I myself did not find out about this so-called Western doujin visual novel Worlds of Haruhi Suzumiya until a few days ago purely by accident when the public demo for the prologue was released.
