Whenever this song starts playing at the beginning of Usagi Drop, it gets me in the mood for adorable action. It’s also the theme song for the Usagi Drop movie which I only learned of its existence today. I only have a couple of notes for this translation. First, I tried to make it sound a little slangy. Overall I like SHOOT! more than Party Love but this is addictive in its own way. This was also pretty easy to translate. I only have one note to make which is in the line with “shrimp.” In Japanese there is a pun where it reads E, as in rank E, which happens to be pronounced the same way as いい or good. In the translation I decided to combine the two as “grEat” which looks a little weird but I felt it was the least cumbersome way to approach things. SHOOT! is one of my favorite opening songs from the Summer 2011 season and Ro-Kyu-Bu! is one of my favorite anime of the season so I knew I had to work on this song as soon as possible. I actually had a draft of this done a couple of days ago but I didn’t have scans of the lyrics to confirm what I had. Unfortunately I still don’t have scans but transcriptions from reliable sources finally showed up for me to fix things. I don’t expect the actual scans to be different from what I found online but if they are, I will be sure to update the translation. Anyway I love this song to death. The Kotoko and fripSide credentials are really evident which only add to the appeal. I can even imagine Kotoko singing this herself. Be sure to check out the seiyuu singing and dancing in the PV too. After a long wait here’s a translation for my favorite Love Live! song. Snow halation just sounds so beautiful and the choreography for the PV is so nice that sometimes I can’t stop listening to it and singing along. Definitely has a different feel to it compared to Bokura no LIVE Kimi to no LIFE which is a good thing for showing variety and makes me keep looking forward to more songs. As promised here Yuru Yuri’s ED. There’s an abundance of repeated sounds in this song so I decided to repeat words or use two similar-sounding words in my translation to preserve the general melody of the original lyrics. For example in the line Tsuntsun Deredere Hanaji ga dobadoba, I used lovey-dovey for deredere and doubled dripping for dobadoba. I also found it interesting how the words goyururi and yuru yuri kinda felt like they were blending into each other so I chose to use the phrasing your Yuru Yuri pace. After some trouble here’s the lyrics for Yuru Yuri’s OP. I chose to romanize the title a little differently than others for aesthetic reasons but it is still the same song. This was fairly difficult because of how wacky and crazy the song is so it took some work and I may end up coming back to this to make minor edits to the translation later to make it sound better. For example the line with all the nyans was a pain to put into English. Trying to integrate meows into the words or their synonyms without making it look cumbersome was something I couldn’t quite figure out so I opted for the next best thing. I hope the translation is still satisfactory regardless of the hurdles. I also suppose I was liberal with the use of exclamation marks but I believe it fits fine. Today’s set of lyrics are for one of my favorite Precure songs. H@ppy Together!!! is a very positive and catchy song perfect for cheering you up when you’re feeling down. Of note in the line that goes Sode suriaeba Nakayoku nareru (^^)v I had an alternate translation that went If we wear each others shoes we can all get along (^^)v. It’s not too different from what I decided to go with but some people might prefer it more. That’s not really my style though since I tend towards more literal translations so whatever. I’m also thinking about filling in all the neglected Precure songs at some point but that’ll be for later. Anyway enjoy! Continue reading
