silent-bible

I’ve been meaning to do this since it came out but I haven’t been able to get around to it until today due to school-related issues. I think I was a little less strict in my interpretation into English than usual but hopefully it turned out well. I keep rereading it just to make sure but I think it feels right. Judging by the lyrics it’s from Fate’s perspective so hopefully I conveyed that well. I hope you enjoy.

my-wish-my-love-single

Following up on more Nanoha Movie goodness I also translated its ending theme song. Basically if we assume the song is from Nanoha’s perspective this time since it’s sung by her seiyuu then it’s about how Nanoha can’t communicate her feelings to Fate properly through words and instead uses a bouquet of flowers in place of her feelings. The song is pretty simple but I like the meaning of the lyrics plus I’ve been listening to more Tamura Yukari on the way to class lately so that might help. The single also has the ending theme for the Nanoha PSP game Battle of Aces so I’ll get to that eventually (translating the lyrics and buying the game I mean). Until then enjoy:

nanoha-fate-family

Exactly two years ago I posted “my ideal family” if it were to consist of anime, manga and game characters. Basically the idea came to me when I stumbled on an amazing thread randomly in which people would post a list of characters to form a family. Think of Kyouran Kazoku Nikki and that’s pretty much the basic premise. I found the idea so amusing that I started seriously thinking about it and after some major contemplation I posted my list a few days later. Suddenly two years have passed and I’ve finally gotten around to updating my family roster. I’ve been planning to redo it for a while since I have an even bigger “gene pool” from which to select family members from. The list is divided into the family I grew up with and the family I raise as an adult. Continue on for some strange shenanigans.

phantom-minds-postcard

The Nanoha Movie is almost out but I can’t watch it! Anyway here’s the lyrics for its theme song “PHANTOM MINDS.” The song is sung from Fate’s perspective obviously and is about how her meeting with Nanoha changed her life and how she’ll always come back to her. Good lord my Yuri Googles shattered the first time I read the kanji lyrics. I like the song and it’s pretty fun to sing. I’ll get to the insert song once I figure out which one on the single is it.

mokou-watches-neet-kaguya

If I didn’t think it looked horribly wordy I would have subtitled this post “Stepping into a past decade before exiting the current one” or something similar. Thanks to Shance I rediscovered the Anime Otaku-ness Test 200, a 200 question assessment of one’s otaku power-level. The test is terribly out-of-date but I think it is a good primer for letting people get to know me a little better. I’ve taken a few of the more interesting questions for me and explained my answers right here. I hope this will be a pleasant insight into who I am.

winter-09-10-v2exp

Now that the fall season is wrapping up it’s time for my quarterly look at what I’ll be watching in the coming season. Despite how barren a season may look I usually find plenty of shows that I feel have potential. There are a handful of titles that I’m pretty sure I’ll enjoy but otherwise winter looks as if I’ll have free time to catch up on my infinite backlog. Time for a look at what I’m actually looking forward to:

nanoha-vivid

According to the manga-ka Fujima Takuya’s blog, yet another new Nanoha manga titled Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid taking place 4 years after StrikerS is set to join the Nanoha 4th Series bandwagon. It is set to begin serialization May 26th in Monthly Comp Ace magazine with story written by Tsuzuki Masaki and art by Fujima Takuya of course who has also done Negima!? Neo of all things. Judging by the promotional art and the title itself, it is quite obvious the new manga will focus on Loli Belka Superweapon Vivio so if you like her you’ll probably also love this.

nanoha-vivio

With two new Nanoha manga debuting within a month of each other, dreams of a fourth anime series are sounding more and more plausible. Just like Nanoha Force I’ll be picking this manga right away to satiate my Nanoha fix.

nyantype-nanoha-scan

In the latest issue of Kadokawa’s new magazine Nyantype, the fourth installment in the Nanoha universe has been announced to be published in said magazine. The new story is titled Mahou Senki Lyrical Nanoha Force and Takamachi Nanoha is now 25 years old in this series. The first issue will be released on April 30th and will feature art from Higa Yukari who has worked on the manga Holy Hearts! and the manga version of Shina Dark.

As a hardcore Nanoha fan (this blog is partly named after the series after all) I am excited about the announcement but at the same type hope that the series will be more like the first two rather than StrikerS which had a few interesting points such as weapon upgrades but overall did not live up to expectations. Hopefully being in the manga format issues such as pacing will be fixed. At the very least I want less training and few new characters. These were some of the biggest issues from StrikerS. Introducing new recruits is understandable so undergoing training is a given in the context of the setting but that doesn’t mean that it has to be shown all the time. I also didn’t like how important characters from the previous series either became rather minor or just plain didn’t show up. Where’s Hayate not doing desk work!?

As hinted in the change in title from Mahou Shoujo to Mahou Senki (Senki roughly translates as Military History), I hope this manga will mark in a change for the better and go back to its roots.

For some reason or another the other day I found myself doing the internet equivalent of window-shopping and once again was entranced by the allure of PVC beauties. I failed to mention it in my Goals for ‘09 post but I want to reduce the amount I spend on otaku goods. However any such prospect seems to be slowly fading away so I suppose it’s a “good” thing that I did not make it a solid commitment. So what figures could possibly be responsible for soon making me relapse back into my terrible spending habits?
