Best Shows This Season Begin With Maria
As I have mentioned before, I wasn’t initially too terribly impressed with this season’s lineup so I have given the few shows I do follow some time to pick up before trying to write something. It’s been a month a so far but the season still as a whole seems rather underwhelming. Although there are decent amount of shows I am enjoying, it’s nothing compared to the number of shows I went crazy over last season. Anyways, onto the impressions:

Surprise Gift: Alter Unison Vita Arrives!
Just when I had thought I was satisfied with receiving a trap cake and drawing my Marimite yuri chalkboard picture, my birthday got even better when yesterday three of my friends surprised me with something I had given up on getting a while ago—Alter Unison Vita! I know I mentioned that wanted Vita a few times before but the idea of them actually getting a figure for me as a present completely shocked me. Now that I have been graciously given Vita, my Lyrical Nanoha figure count now totals three along with Alter Fate and Good Smile Nanoha. Unfortunately I don’t have those two with me at the moment but of course I still took photos of Vita by herself. After all she charged into the Cradle and single-handedly destroyed its engine. Seriously I thought she was going to die back then. Anyways, onto the photos.

Trap Cake
Today was the first meeting of the semester for my University’s anime club and I got an amazing surprise. Saturday will be my twentieth birthday so someone in the club decided to make me a cake with Watarase Jun from Happiness! I’ll leave you guys to imagine what I did to him her. Enjoy.

Goals for the 2009 Year
First day of school started for me today and it looks like Japanese and various science classes will be keeping me as busy as ever this semester so I decided to write about what I want to accomplish so that I will not forget as the year progresses. Since things will only get more hectic from now on I need to get my priorities straightened out. Of course many of these will be otaku-related but some goals may spill over into my schoolwork or elsewhere.

Umineko Episode 3 Full Patch Released
Today the Witch Hunt has released the full translation for Umineko no Naku Koro ni Episode 3 Banquet of the golden witch. You can get it either here for Episode 4 or here for Episode 3 (Remember that each episode contains all the previous ones). In addition to the full translation and corrections for typos, grammar mistakes and missing lines from the first half of Episode 3, there is also a fix for a bug that prevented Onscripter to play sounds that were repeatedly played within a short period. Unfortunately the sound fix for Onscripter deals a severe sound lag glitch for those of us who use Windows Vista. If you have Vista, then you should download the previous version of Onscripter and replace the one that came in the patch.

Just when I was set to stop my winter gaming addiction that has been keeping me off my blog for the past week or so, this comes along. Looks like I know what I am doing on my last day before classes resume.

Finally got my Japanese Xbox 360!
I was planning on working on drawing today but I was busy with various things so I when I arrived home I didn’t have much free time. I would have tried to get a little bit done but like the title says, my long-awaited Japanese Xbox 360 finally arrived. I bought the holiday Value Pack which comes with an Xbox 360 (Pro), wireless controller, 60GB hard drive and media center remote, Ace Combat 6 and Beautiful Katamari Damacy. I decided against getting an Elite because the only differences are the larger hard drive (120GB), headset in place of the remote, HDMI cable and a black paint scheme. Other than the HDMI cable, I didn’t think these differences were worth the extra money I would have to pay to get it and the games that are already packed into the Value Pack.

Ball dropped in Times Square 5 minutes ago marking the start of a new year in this timezone. Hopefully this year will have fun surprises in store. Time to think of some resolutions or something.
